When confronted with a seemingly impossible problem, our first impulse is to solve it on our own accord. But most of the time, we still fail despite our best efforts and intentions. Whether we accept it or not, there are certain life challenges that can't be dealt with by simply applying human wisdom.

What you and I need, is God's intervention, to make everything right, at least, in the manner He sees fit. It may not be the solution you have in mind, but without a doubt, it's the best one in this particular season of your life.

In the depths of your life's wintertime, you may feel hopeless inside, or maybe, the wide-reaching drought of life's summer season has left you weary and exhausted inside, not to mention, spring's unpredictability as well as autumn's hopeless finality.

So, if you're at the end of your rope, and life's trying seasons are weighing you down, take heart! God doesn't want to harm you but "to give you a future and a hope." Yes, your bright future, your promised land, your Canaan, whatever you want to call it, is about to unfold right before your very eyes, that is, if you face your life season from the standpoint of faith.

Believe it, this is your defining moment! I know it's hard to believe, but there's a priceless treasure hidden in life's seemingly harsh seasons, when we choose to run to God and His Word of Truth.

Korean Superstar Lee Min Ho's Wax Figure To Be Unveiled This Month At Madame Tussauds Shanghai!

If everything goes according to plan, then Madame Tussauds Shanghai  will be unveiling the wax figure of Lee Min Ho anytime this month. :)

It was said that the Hallyu star's measurements were taken sometime in August 2012, alongside a photo shoot which lasted for 3 hours, all set-up by a production team from Madame Tussauds London.


It's Fitting Time!

From the eyes to the hair, every part was captured in detail to make sure that the replica will be portrayed as accurately as possible. 

I'm not at all surprised that MINOZ worldwide will troop to Madame Tussauds Shanghai just to get up close and personal with our Korean Superstar, anytime soon. :)

It was a rare time for us to have a delightfully fulfilling meal in a backdrop of glorious serenity. At Kainan sa Dalampasigan, we experienced just that and a little bit more.

For starters, there stood an ingeniously-made fountain that seemed to encourage photo-ops from diners.:) Yes, we experienced an awesome convergence of good food and lovely ambiance when we went to this popular resto located in Nasugbu, Batangas.

Hubby Bala recommended this particular resto based on a number of good reviews in the net. Fortunately his chioce wasn't at all put to shame. He received a unanimous thumbs-up from the family while I, for one, gave him my trademark Korean-sign which was synonymous to well done, Bala! :)

The place oozed with an eco-friendly vibe worthy of a well-planned wedding reception! From ceiling accents that seemed to evoke an almost mesmerizing feel...

Allow me to walk you through some of the dishes we tried that beautiful sunny afternoon.

Bilao sa Dalampasigan (Php 700). 
A sumptuous medley of  inihaw na baboy, baked tahong, garlic fried shrimps, daing na bangus with some pickled greens on the side. This was a truly yummy choice but not quite as much as we expected it to be. Yes, it was designed for sharing but only for around two persons, maybe three, tops.

Lechon Kawali (Php 270).
Crisp on the outside yet quite delicately juicy on the inside. It was mouthwateringly good and fared pretty well with the sarsa (sauce). It wouldn't have hurt though if the resto partnered it with another dip, preferably vinegar-based for that much needed kick to the tastebuds.

Lumpiang Shanghai (Php 180).
Typical deep-fried rolls with ground meat and veggies proved to be quite delish and equally fun to eat, mainly because of the accompanying crunch in every bite. :) Although I normally associate these rolls with a sweet and sour sauce, the presence of a different kind of vinegar-based dip provided another level of zing to this otherwise stereotypical Pinoy dish.

Adobong Kangkong (Php 180).
I never expected much from this dish but was put to shame when I finally took a bite. The tartness blended well with the sweet and salty nature of the dish, making the medley of kangkong stalks and leaves appear to be more elegant than usual. The addition of fried garlic bits on top as well as the sweet crunchy onions, made spice lovers like me extremely pleased and satisfied all throughout.

Pinakbet (Php 220).
When I first looked at this dish, I admit that I wasn't that impressed. But when I tasted it, it emitted some real, deep flavors that made me dig in for a whole lot more. Although I hardly tasted any meat in this medley of squash, eggplant, bittermelon (ampalaya) slices, I can't help but appreciate the freshness that this particular dish is known for.

Balot Sa Dahon ( Php 220)
Chicken and pork adobo with fried garlic shrimps mixed in steamed rice and then wrapped in banana leaves plus shrimp paste (bagoong) with an unmashed tomato on the side. Although quite okay, this binalot-version looked better than it actually tasted with the exception of the dip which added a much needed pizzazz to the dish.

Late last month, I did some voice-overs (recorded & edited from my home studio) for Earth Day Jam 2013's radio plugs. 

Although I'm quite familiar with this foundation, it was only when I read the script that I fully understood how big the event really is. What I Think Of ROYALE's Kojic Papaya Soap & L-GlutaPower Anti-Ageing Facial Soap

Last month, I received two soap bars from Royale- L-GlutaPower and Kojic Papaya. It was rather timely for I was just looking for new products to try out.


Since I ran out of my usual papaya soap, all I needed to do was to use the bath soap for a month to find out if it was indeed better than my normal soap. And to fully test out L-GlutaPower facial soap's alleged anti-ageing and brightening capabilites, I discontinued the use of my usual Tony Moly Lemon Seed Foam Cleanser.

I find it interesting that Royale came up with a glutathione soap specially formulated for the face. You see, I had my share of bad encounters with gluta soaps whenever I used them on my face. The worst thing for me was the prickly feeling associated with breakouts and skin redness.

Thankfully, the first time I used ROYALE L-GlutaPOWER, I didn't experience any of those problems. Initially, I was won over by its creamy and silky feel just like Pervil Soap's. Royale L-GlutaPower also produced an ample amount of lather which was always fun during the cleansing ritual. After rinsing, I also noticed that there was minimal skin tightening involved which translated to much lesser skin dryness.

After using ROYALE L-GlutaPOWER for some time though, I've noticed that my skin developed a thin layer of scaly skin similar to what had happened when I used Neutrogena Fine Fairness Brightening Serum.  Through continued use, I noticed that when the scaliness disappeared, portions of white skin were revealed.

High Points:
  • Minimal skin tightening which translates to minimal skin dryness.
  • Pronounced skin renewal and brightening properties.
Low Point:
  • Although the soap itself revealed lighter skin, there were times I felt self-conscious about the thin film of dry skin on my face. A good moisturizer, though helped solve this problem.
Ingredients: 
Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Coconut Diethanolamide, Water, Sodium Hydroxide,Shea Butter, Silicon Dioxide, Collagen, titanium Dioxide, Glutathione, Alpha Arbutin,  Perfume

Will I purchase a new one?
There is a strong probability that I would, considering its skin renewal and brightening capabilities. I'll be turning 41 this year, so this soap matches well with my skin's ageing needs.

ROYALE Kojic Papaya Soap
At 130 grams, it weighs almost the same with other whitening soaps in the market. The bar's orange hue is also similar with other papaya soaps; but, as its brand name implies, ROYALE is marketing this particular product not just as a mere papaya soap but a kojic bar as well.

During actual use, I found that the soap delivered a richer, creamier lather than my favorite Likas Papaya. Because of the extremely hot weather, I found myself using the Kojic Papaya Soap 3 times more than usual which may have boosted the skin lightening process much faster compared to my usage of the other papaya bars.

Upside:
  • I didn't experience any burning sensation nor rashes of any kind.
  • A thin layer of dry skin developed during use similar to what had happened when I used ROYALE L-GlutaPOWER Facial Soap which later on revealed portions of white skin.
  • Much faster skin lightening capability than other papaya soaps I've tried.
Downside:
  • The thin film of dry skin, although already on cue for skin renewal, made me a little bit self-conscious.  Putting on a good amount of lotion though helped solve this issue. 
Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Cocodiethanolamide, Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Lactate, Kojic Acid, Papaya Extract, Yellow Iron Oxide, Red Iron Oxide, Perfume.

Will I purchase a new one?
Most Definitely! I was won over by its much faster skin lightening abilities than the other papaya soaps I've used before.:)

A Sweet Afternoon @ Almon Marina SM North

What can be sweeter than an afternoon filled with some juicy talks about K-Dramalandia partnered with some delish snacks?In between bites, Mars Cel and I discussed among others, the hit K-Drama That Winter, The Wind Blows, the beautiful chemistry between Jo in Sung and Song Hye Kyo and how wonderful it would be if they become a couple for real. Recent news however has smashed my hope; but, at least there's still a chance for SHK and Hyun Bin to get back together, right? :)

Why We Find J.CO Frappes To Be Pretty Interesting...

A Dozen of J. Co's Most Popular Donuts

Although J.Co is primarily known for its assortment of ingeniously crafted donuts, J.Co also offers around 17 frappuccino variantsdivided into two types: Frappe Cappuccino which features double shot espressos; and, Frappe Delight which offers drinks with just a mild caffeine kick.

During my bonding time with my nephew, niece and of course my son Tutapel, aside from feasting on a dozen of our most favorite J.Co Donuts, we also ordered some frappes on the side. What we found delightful was the fact that for every order of any available frappe, we were given one glazzy donut, absolutely free!

No worries. It's an on-going promo so there's no need to hurry just to avail of such. Anyway, please allow me to share with you what we had during that time and what we thought of our chosen variants.

Since this particular flavor is under the Frappe Delights category, it has a refreshingly sweet chocolaty register with a very mild caffeine punch.

To be very honest, I didn't like this drink that much because I found it to be pretty strong. For starters, I didn't know that this particular variant was really a double shot espresso, which I wasn't really fond of, in the first place. However, I'm sure that coffee addicts will find this selection pretty much in their league.

Another double espresso drink that is great for self-confessed coffee lovers who desperately need to meet their daily caffeine requirement. :)

J.Co Strawberry Yogurt Frappe (L-Php 150).
For me, this is the holy grail when it comes to coffee-free frappes. Since it is semi-sweet with a toned-down tartness, I consider it the best donut partner, ever! :)

Another mild tasting coffee drink from the Frappe Delights selection that boasts of a rich avocado taste in every sip. This is truly another favorite aside from the Strawberry Yogurt Frappe. Truly, a must-try!

Can't Wait To Try The Japanese Bubble Hair Color Brand Called Palty in Yummy Caramel Sauce!

Oh No! My roots are showing up...

I've been wanting to fix that hair problem for a few weeks now but I can't seem to decide on whether to have it done in a salon, for a change, or just continue with my usual D-I-Y option.

When we went to SM North-Annex last night, I passed by Watson's just to look at its latest fare of hair color products. I saw boxes of my fave Revlon Luminista series with free bottles of nail polish to boot!

I was almost tempted to buy a box if not for an unexpected incident. I saw the famous Japanese hair color called Palty in one of the shelves! I almost shrieked with excitement. Seriously, it was hard for me to believe its presence because it is quite hard to find it at malls here in the metro.

Truth is, I've been wanting to try this famous bubble hair color ever since I saw Orange (Oyen) Tuazon's Palty tutorials in her blog ClearWing.

Revisiting Boracay After 16 Years...

Hubby Bala and I were so surprised to see, how much the island of Boracay has changed over the years. In 1997, around the time of our 2nd wedding anniversary, there were only a handful of resorts to choose from. Booking one also proved to be quite bothersome. A long distance call must first be placed to the island operator, who in turn, will connect you to your resort of choice. Eateries at the time had very limited dishes, too, and with only two to three restos offering buffet dinners. Food selections were pretty much the same when I came back in '98 with my childhood bestie Dianne.

But now, Boracay is on a whole new level! The island bursts with a plethora of restos, eateries and food stalls scattered all over the place and with almost all of the resorts from Stations 1 to 3, feature al fresco dining with the White Beach as a magnificent backdrop.

One thing remains the same, though. The four kilometer long White Beach is as gorgeous as ever! And the sensation of just stepping on its powdery white sand was enough for me to say, that the almost four hours of travel from Quezon City to Boracay was all worth the effort!

Although specks of green algae were noticeable, most especially in Station 1, the bluish-green waters still proved to be a refreshing retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.

While touring the island, I've noticed that Boracay was filled with foreign tourists, mainly from China and South Korea, where the island is being promoted in a big way. These Chinese and Korean nationals have become a significant part of the 1.2 million tourists that Boracay attracts annually, which although impressive, still falls short of the 2.5 million visitors that Phuket commands.

But all of us are hoping that with the on-going Caticlan Airport Development Project being led by the winning bidder, San Miguel Corporation, which also happens to be one of Asia's most trusted conglomerates, the airport will indeed be given a major makeover, enough to meet the goal of drawing three million more tourists to Boracay.
